Transport route builder EBA (2 years):

  • Teaching practice: construction and maintenance work in the track area
  • Vocational School: Basics of Construction Processes, Safety, Materials Science
  • ÜK: Surveying, hand machines, occupational safety
  • Degree: Swiss Professional certificate for road operator EBA

Continuing education & career opportunities

After basic training, a wide range of development opportunities are available — from foremen to project managers.

Possible continuing education:

  • Rail construction foreman or polisher
  • Rail Safety Officer (SIBE)

Salary as a track builder in Switzerland

Salary is regulated in the Collective Employment Agreement (CLA) and reflects responsibility, working hours and physical work.

Indicative values:

  • Learners: staggered according to apprenticeship year
  • After completion of apprenticeship: approx. CHF 5,000 — 5'400/month
  • With experience or specialization: approx. CHF 5'400 — 6'200/month
  • Foreman or polisher: CHF 6,500+/month
